Because it lacks couth (duh). Made from a little of this and a little of that... (ok a lot of cab), a modicum of zin and a pinch of Syrah. That’s it, unfiltered, unrefined and unapologetic. Don’t be a snob, try it!
Zinfandel, known as Primitivo in Italy, was first introduced to California during the Gold Rush in the 1850’s. It is a variety of black-skinned wine grape that benefits from a dry climate, cool nights and sunny days.
A winemaker from a local winery/vineyard overheard us talking about opening a winery one day while we were at a Mexican restaurant having “lunch at the bar”. We bought a ton of his grapes (literally) and this is the result. It’s good, damn good – try it!
