The results are in after 772 wines from 137 wineries were professionally judged February 17-18 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds for the annual Toast of the Coast Wine Competition. La Fleur's Winery recently was awarded a Gold and a Silver medal as a result.
Zinfandel, known as Primitivo in Italy, was first introduced to California during the Gold Rush in the 1850’s. It is a variety of black-skinned wine grape that benefits from a dry climate, cool nights and sunny days.
